Mentionable Projects
While all the programs and projects I have worked on have been valuable and enjoyable, here are a few worthy of special mention.
Project: Enterprise Data Pipeline feeding into Machine Learning Model for Accelerated Clinical Trials
SITUATION:

My client, a large bio-pharma company, needed to migrate and enhance a critical data pipeline and its associated machine learning (ML) model from a third-party proprietary environment onto their own internal infrastructure. The ML model was designed to analyze vast amounts of data and predict clinical trial sites likely to enroll patients more quickly and effectively, directly impacting trial acceleration. This migration, specifically onto their Databricks platform, was a world- first initiative within the industry.
TASK:

I was tasked with leading this complex, high-stakes program with a $30 million budget and a 60-person team, encompassing internal data scientists, data engineers, developers, and an external contracting company. A key objective was to ensure the internal team's deep involvement throughout the build, preventing intellectual property loss and enabling their long-term support of the solution.
ACTION:

As the Lean Agile Program Manager, I implemented a SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodology to orchestrate the diverse 60-person team. My actions included:

Establishing new

Agile Ways of Working and a clear Team Blueprint for operations across internal and external teams, including three consulting houses and business stakeholders.

Coordinating

Agile Ceremonies and leading Product Owner Scrum of Scrum Sessions across multiple Agile Teams to ensure alignment and dependency management.

Establishing

Enhanced digital reporting through Jira and Miro Integration, a first for the Bio-Pharma company, providing real-time visibility into program progress.

Utilizing

Three separate PI Planning Sessions to meticulously coordinate a unique Release Train for the solution, managing complex interdependencies.

Leading the program to

Design and implement advanced data pipelines and machine learning solutions, specifically named Atomic, Design Intelligence, and Clin DEV DSW, within the Databricks environment.

Managing the outsourced contract team and supporting the business case justification for the $30 million data science and engineering solution.
RESULT:

Through strategic program leadership and rigorous Agile execution, all six unique releases were developed on time and within budget. The program successfully migrated the advanced ML pipeline to the company's Databricks infrastructure, a world-first achievement, empowering the bio-pharma client to leverage cutting-edge predictive analytics for accelerated clinical trial site enrollment and improved effectiveness. This also ensured the internal team's deep understanding and ownership, safeguarding intellectual property.
Enhanced Data Pipeline
Project: Enhanced LLM for Clinical Research
SITUATION:

The client, a bio-pharma company, sought to enhance their existing clinical research portal by transforming it into an AI research assistant. The strategic goal was to significantly decrease the research time clinical researchers spent on investigating drug interactions. The existing application, used for accessing internal research data, required a substantial boost to advance into its next phase of development.

TASK:

I was responsible for leading an in-house team to design and develop this innovative AI research assistant. The core task was to build a solution that would enable bio-pharma researchers to efficiently build research papers. This involved entering a hypothesis and key research criteria, with the AI assistant then generating its own methodology and compiling relevant research materials.
ACTION:

My actions focused on bringing the necessary design and development services in-house. I led the team through the entire process of conceptualizing, building, and refining the AI research assistant. This involved guiding the development of the underlying Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities to interpret complex research inputs and synthesize comprehensive research outputs, directly addressing the need to decrease research time on drug interactions.
RESULT:

By successfully designing and developing the AI research assistant in-house, the client's clinical research portal was significantly enhanced. This empowered bio-pharma researchers to rapidly generate methodologies and compile research materials by simply inputting a hypothesis and key criteria, thereby directly achieving the objective of decreasing research time on drug interactions. The project successfully moved the application into its next phase of development, leveraging advanced AI capabilities

Project: Tailored Agile Coaching and Agile PMO Establishment
SITUATION:

I engaged with a venture capitalist-backed blockchain company that needed to transition their project managers from traditional Waterfall methodologies to Agile. The challenge was to tailor a unique training and coaching program that would effectively embed Agile practices within their specific organizational context and existing project teams.

TASK:

My primary task was to develop and deliver a unique Agile training program for the company's project managers and their Agile teams. Following this, I was to provide intensive mentorship to each project manager, ensuring successful practical application of Agile principles and ceremonies over a defined period, and to regularly report on the progress of the Agile coaching program to key executive stakeholders.
ACTION:

I developed a unique, two-week Agile training product specifically designed for their project managers and Agile teams, moving them from Waterfall to Agile practices. Following the training, I directly mentored each project manager and their respective client teams over a two-month period. This involved hands-on guidance through four sprints, during which we collaboratively conducted all core Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, demos, and retrospectives. Throughout this process, I maintained clear communication with senior leadership, regularly meeting with the CEO, COO, and CTO to provide updates on the Agile Coaching Program's progress and impact.

RESULT:

Through the development and delivery of a tailored Agile coaching program and intensive mentorship, the venture capitalist-backed blockchain company's project managers and teams successfully transitioned from Waterfall to practical Agile execution. This comprehensive program enabled the company to adopt effective Agile ways of working, directly supported by transparent reporting to executive leadership.
